Louisville, Georgia Speed Traps
There is an oddly placed stop sign at the intersection. The cop stopped me about 1/4 mile past the sign and claimed that I ‘blew through the stop sign’. I protested that I NEVER run stop signs and haven’t had a ticket in over 10 years,. He claimed he watched me run it. After receiving the ticket ($170!) I backtracked to check on the sign to satisfy myself. Sure enough, I REMEMBERED stopping at this sign! And, there was the same cop parked hidden on a little rise off to one side watching for his next victim. GA recently passed laws against ‘Speed Traps’, so local burgs are just finding workarounds to generate revenue from their victims.
Stopped by a cop, stating that I was 20 mph, over the speed limit. I had not even passed the cop. He was stationed down the road from me, and as soon as I was in sight, he turned on his lights, when I passed him, he did a u-turn and stopped me.
I knew it was a bogus ticket, and he knew it was a bogus ticket. I knew he was just looking to make his qouta for the month. Ticket was over $200! Talk about “Highway” robbery.
That’s why I hate, traveling through small towns. They really stick it, to “out of towners”. As if it’s the only way, they are able to generate money.
Speeding ticket. I was not speeding but I cannot fight the ticket. $20 fee to pay $174 ticket online. No personal checks accepted. Small town robbery
It seems City of Louisville has stepped up its efforts to bring in extra income.
It started a major campaign to pull over anyone that exceeds the 35mph speed limit. Be watchful of large trees, buildings, and other cars as they are using them to hide behind. Also they are patrolling the highway 1 bypass.
