Lowndes, Georgia Speed Traps
From mile marker 3 to the 18 mile marker, County and State Police are always in this area of I-75. I have seen a state trooper sitting in the trees, well hidden, about the 14 mile marker. My advice to anyone traveling through this area, slow down or you will be caught!
Saw police patrol vehicle parked in median where the trees break between mm 12 and 13 at 10:00am Friday 6/18/2004.
I did not get a ticket but I was pulled over for 3 miles over the speed limit in a brand new rented car with out of state plates. I had the cruise control set right on the speed limit and they followed me and pulled up and looked at passengers they said looked like illegal immigrants that turned out to be California Americans with Mexican Heritage that spoke perfect English. They insisted on taking everything out of the car in a complete search of us and gave me a courtesy warning for speeding.
Just want you all to know that the County Sheriff’s Department that works I-75 and initiates all those unrealistic stops has absolutely NOTHING to do with the local police, the Valdosta Police Department and the locals do NOT work the Interstate. Neither do the Ga. State Patrol anymore, except for working the accidents.
