Milledgeville, Georgia Speed Traps

Traveling south on North Columbia Street, there is a red light in front of Kroger and a hill just past the red light. A police may be sitting about a half mile away in the middle lane in front of Baldwin Memorial Garden, or driving back and forth monitoring traffic traveling down the hill. Drive the speed limit while traveling down that hill.

The Jones County Sheriif’s Department and Georgia State Patrol sit in a nich beside the woods in front of church property at the Commissioner Creek Bridge on Ga Hwy 49 in Jones County Ga. and uses speed detection radar and laser to catch people coming down the hill towards Commissioner Creek Bridge. It is very hard to detect their vehicles since they are pulled up almost into the tree line of their "hiding spot". They are impossible to see especially if a person is heading north towards Milledgeville, Ga. This stretch of road is also a double line no passing zone. People have been cited for passing against a double solid line on this stretch of road in addition to speeding citations. Law Enforcement frequent this spot several times a week. It is the most common speed trap in Jones County Ga.

Driving north on Hwy 49 Georgia State Patrol sits next to the phone company’s substation at Forest Hill Rd. As you are going down the hill you cannot see the officer because the car is backed up to the trees and well off the road. Also sits at the church at the bottom of hill across from Felton Dr.
