Oliver, GA is a very small town. There really is nothing there and nothing near the highway to justify the speed limit of 35 mph. People working in a convenience store in a nearby town described it as "the speedtrap of the world" and knew where I had gotten a ticket without having to be told. The place is so tiny that it is easy to miss. You don’t even recognize is as a town. There is nothing there except for two small, generally empty buildings which are the city hall and post office.

Crossroads in a very small town. One building on SR 17. The speed drops from 55 mph to 45 mph to 35 mph in a very short distance.
Ga rt 17 between Millen and Statesboro
Speed limit goes from 55 to 45 to 35 within a short distance. just as the speed limit goes to 35mph the town cop is looking with his radar gun and has been known to stop drivers going as little as 5mph over. The town of Oliver is about a mile from rt 17. I was told that they annexed the smalll strip just for the purpose of collecting fines. I have traveled through there at different times of the day and there is always a cop there running radar.
