With the congestion in downtown Hiram, many people take Macland Road to Florence Road and run Florence to US 278. Do NOT be going over 35 MPH when you pass the Powder Springs city limit sign just north of US 278. Motorcycle cops sit in the industrial area to the right and run laser waiting for someone to come along running 45 or 50. You Will get a ticket and it runs about 90 dollars.

Motorcycle cops are sitting at a small driveway just before Flint Hill rd. They are watching east bound traffic. They are hard to spot when coming around the long turn from Hopkins rd.

US Highway 278 near Powder Springs

Beware! Hwy 278 through Powder Springs has been designated a "Work Zone" from the US 78 split to Sailor’s Pkwy (GA 176). The work has not reached Oglesby Rd as this is written but signs and barrels are off to the side of the road which no doubt gives the Powder Springs PD extra incentive to patrol this road heavily to take advantage of the increased fines.

As a side note, the speed limit through Powder Springs on Marietta Street from New Macland through Brownsville Rd has been dropped to 25 mph. While a low speed limit is not a bad idea in this area, it appears to be enforced rather overzealously at times even if it means officers blocking entrances to churches and businesses during operating hours to run laser. The 25 mph limit also means that the 10mph allowance isn’t valid, so if someone is having a bad day you could potentially be pulled over for doing as little as 2-3 mph over the limit. I’ve rolled by cops doing 30 and was not stopped, but this is just a fair warning.
