The City of Rome Motorcycle Traffic Enforcement Officer is on the stretch of the Bypass between US 411 and Turner Chapel Road many days of the week. State Patrols and Rome City patrol cars sit in the median at the entrance of Bypass and 411 many morning, mid-day and PM rush hours.

Alabama Hwy. is a four lane hwy with a center turning lane and the speed limit is 45 mph. State Patrol and Floyd County officers will sit in the turning lane with no lights on when dark out and also sit at Barker Rd. in the bushes or across hwy in a pull off area. Both State and County officers patrol this 45 mph zone heavily. Motorist can be caught off guard traveling east or west while in this 45 mph zone. I have seen hundreds pulled over in this zone. Speed limit should be higher. This is not a highly congested area, just another SPEED TRAP!

The police regular check for speeders during the morning hours when children are going to the school, as they should.
