204 ALT known as "Diamond Causeway"

Savannah, GeorgiaJun 01, 20010 Comments

Between Ferguson Road and The Landings subdivision, especially the area between the Intracoastal Waterway Drawbridge and the Village Traffic Light, there is a 40 MPH ZONE that should be 55 MPH — the same as other "state" roads in rural areas — definitely a "TRAP!"

US-80 E

Savannah, GeorgiaJul 01, 20001 Comments

This trap is eastbound on US-80 towards Tybee Island, as you exit the city limit of Savannah and enter the city limit of Thunderbolt. As you enter Thunderbolt, the speed limit drops from 45 to 40, and then to 35, all in less than a mile with no change in road conditions. City of Thunderbolt police wait on the right hand side of the road with their lights off or sit at the traffic light with their lights on (there is only one traffic light in Thunderbolt). This trap is present almost 24 hours a day. They especially target beachgoers since this is the only road on and off the island. Thunderbolt police also have dark blue cars making them very difficult to see at night.
