Stone Mountain, Georgia Speed Traps
Ridge Avenue
This is a long residential street. Cops park in the driveways of houses. You’re watching the road not what’s parked in driveways. By the time you see them, it’s too late.
Bermuda Rd. between N. Deshon and W. Park Place
There is a motorcycle cop who sits at the entrance of English Manor Subdivison every morning between 8am and 9am with radar gun and tint meter in hand.
West Mountain St.
25mph speed limit on long downhill section posted with small obscure signs. 25mph speed limit city wide.
Memorial Dr & Forrest Ave
They sit in the church parking lot and the body shop parking lot. If you are traveling east on Memorial coming into Stone Mountain watch out. When you crest the hill the speed limit is 25mph, as you descend it is easy to go way too fast. Once you are halfway down the hill you are in their range. I work nearby and I have watched one officer get seven people before lunch. They do not seem to have any schedule and they operate day and night, so be careful.
East Park Place Road near US Highway I-78
This is a lane trap, not a speeding trap. Basically, they’ve shortened the turn lanes getting onto I-78 from East Park Place, so in heavy traffic cars travel briefly over the double yellow lines to get in one of the two turn lanes. Two or three police cars are waiting for you if you do this. If you use the straight lane to turn left, they will get you for this, too.
