Townsend, Georgia Speed Traps
I-95, MM 57
While driving home from the Christmas holiday on 95 South I was cutoff by someone following me too closely that almost caused an accident. In order for me to avoid an accident I needed to quickly get away from him by accelerating into the next lane to go around him. It wasn’t easy being there was alot of heavy traffic on the road due to the holiday. Soon as I moved into the next lane I noticed a trooper standing outside of his car pointing a radar at oncoming traffic. Soon as I passed him he jumped in his car and followed me. I was in shocked that he decided to pull me over as i watched the other car get away who cut me off. Unfortunately, I was an easy target since I was driving a bright colored BMW with my Jamaican husband sittingbin the passenger seat. I didn’t have a fighting chance, even after explaining to the officer what just took place. It didn’t matter that I was a woman in my 50’s with an excellent driving record who doesn’t drink or smoke, and hadn’t had a or speeding ticket in over 20 years. The officer had no mercy on me, not to mention harrassed my husband of Jamaican descent, asking him for his license as a passenger, and then issued me a ticket going 87 miles mph in a 70 mile zone, knowing I wasn’t driving that fast, but chose my car, making me a super speeder driving 85+ mph on a 4 lane road. Please be on alert when driving through Darien County that their highway patrol is targeting out of state drivers, and issuing drivers with 85+ mph speeding tickets to fatten their wallets which is an illegal act. What they are doing is literally called ‘highway robbery’ and needs to be put to a stop to prevent this type of nonsense activity from occurring with all future drivers passing through the state of Georgia.
