Vienna, Georgia Speed Traps
Vienna Hwy in the middle of town
New Historic zone- anything over 35 mph is considered speeding and they wait for you. We got a ticket for going 42 in a 35.
On I-75 between US27 interchange and state road 215.
You cannot see any signs of human life along the road. Nothing but trees and scrub. You wouldn’t know there’s a town there. Of course, Vienna’s not much of a town. I was heading north on I-75 when the county sheriff appeared suddenly in my rear view mirror. He gave me a speeding ticket. Was I speeding? Yes. Along with everyone else. Still, guilty! When I got home a week or so later I called to see how much I owed. It was well over $400 plus a fee. I sent them a check. They returned it. They wanted cash or a credit card.
Just inside city limits
cops sit on the only road into and out of Georgia Veterans State park where the speed drops from 45 to 35 without warning. It was obvious the cops are targeting this road to catch visitors from the park
Interstate 75, Construction site
Dooly County Sheriff Department targets motorists along I-75 in the area where construction is taking place. The speed limit drops from 70 mph to 60 mph. The thing that makes this a speed trap is that the Dooly County Sheriff Department preys upon motorist in this area on weekends when absolutely no workers are present and no construction is taking place. During this time period, the speed limit should not be enforced. They are taking advantage of motorists to raise revenue. The fine is $298 . Wow!
