Warwick, Georgia on the main drag (divided 4-lane)

Warwick, GeorgiaMar 29, 20151 Comments

The speed limit on highway 300 (divided 4-lane) varies from 65 mph down to 35 mph…. it is very easy to miss a posted sign. As I recall, the speed limit slows incrementally as you approach and go through Warwick but the signs are far apart. Since the road is a 4-lane it is very easy to forget that you need to be at 45 mph (maybe 35). I got a ticket with cruise on 55 mph because I thought that was the speed limit….. $110.00 fine! The cops are constantly patrolling for speeders. ……… no mercy either!

Ga 300 in Warwick City Limit

Speed limit is 45 on a practically deserted 4 lane highway. Most of 300 is 65 mph speed limit. If you exceed 60 in a 45 you will get a huge fine for a super speeder. Warwick police are rude and disrepectful. They only want the cash.

Coming into Warwick from the west side.

Coming into the little hamlett of Warwick, Georgia, in a curve (on Ga. Hwy 300), the speed limit shows 65, until you are in the curve, at the city limits.. In the curve, the speed limit drops to 55, with 2 signs within 100 feet of each other. Another 300 feet into the curve is two more signs (within 100 feet of each other), showing 45 speed limit. Then, which is against Ga. law (I found out too late) there is a city police within 400 feet of the last posted limit sign. He sits in the median, radar pointed westbound, waiting for everybody coming out of the curve. Atlanta Journa/Constitution reported that the city (of 419 residents) has collected$1,295,140 in fines from 2008 to 2012. That’s $3,113 per resident of the town. Outrageous.. & the trend continues through 2014.. The mess should be stopped by now, by the Ga. State Patrol.. But, NO.. They let it go on.

Highway 300

I was travelling from Tallahassee to Atlanta. 3 cruisers were sitting in the medium around the bend. In less than .25 mile the speed decreases from 65 to 55 to 45. And the City of Warwick PD are waiting. I believe they radar cars before the 45 limit. I was confused wondering why I was being stopped. The officer kept asking if I had been drinking. I was very nervous and thought he may take me to jail. He stated I was doing 63 in 45. I planned to return for court, but was unable to the last minute & paid the $220 fine. Take the long route & avoid rural highways!

Definately a speed trap. As i passed one morning to get to cordele from Albany an officer was parked in the middle of the road waiting for ppl to come around the bend into a 45. They dont care if it’s within the 500 ft slow down area of Ga law they will write you a ticket anyways. I also had to tell the Officer that i didnt need his rudeness of aggression. 12 hrs after I got my ticket the police dept there was still handing out tickets pulling cars over 2-3 at a time. The town has all new police cruisers and a pd thats large enough to police cordele. Its an abuse of power and the pd’s funding should be put to schools, farms, healthcare needs of the community, not into more police state crap like this.
