Highway 15 south

Watkinsville, GeorgiaApr 20, 20110 Comments

City cop sits along hwy 15 in front of businesses. Hard to see him. Writes many tickets. Actually the entire town is a speed trap, nothing going on but traffic for 2 cop cars. Must be a significant part of the city budget.

Near the beginning of Colham Ferry Road

In Watkinsville, when you first turn off of Old Hwy 441 onto Colham Ferry Road the speed limit is 35mph. Just 1/2 mile up the road it goes to 55mph so the natural tendancy is to speed up as you pass the elementary school. Watkinsville city cops like to sit there in the dip and nail people as they speed up before leaving the 35mph zone. I had a friend get a DUI this way in her 5 series BMW and have narrowly avoided tickets there myself. They are there regularly, be careful.

Simonton Bridge Road near State Route 15

Local yokel sits in front of a cemetery on Simonton Bridge Road mostly at night, but I have saw him in the morning and mid afternoon as well. Speed limit changes from 40 mph to 30 mph. He runs radar from front and rear and is poorly visible eastbound.

Heading towards the loop on 441, as you crest the hill, on the left hand side of the road, police like to sit tucked up in the trees – they seem to be tracking people on both sides of the road.

State Route 316 near US Highway 78 to Ga loop 10

Watkinsville, GeorgiaJun 13, 20051 Comments

The sheriff of Oconee has called this "the racetrack that we call HWY316". You may not always see them (hidden in the trees)but a radar detector will. The limit drops from 65mph to 55mph just past US78 then to 45mph. the 45mph strech is 3 lanes that are strait, wide, and divided from opposite traffic.
