Boise, Idaho Speed Traps
Riverside Drive near Glenwood Road
Riverside Drive connects Glenwood and Arney Lane, just south of State Street. Riverside Drive winds through a higher end neighborhood that has a very active Home Owner’s Association. This HOA has made an agreement with Garden City Police to have Riverside Dr. constantly monitored for the 20 mph limit. Be prepared to receive a ticket even if you are only at 23 mph. Lots of walkers, ducks, geese, bicylists, etc. on this road. Not a place to speed at all.
Parkcenter Boulevard
A cop oftentimes sits in an empty parking lot right before you cross the Parkcenter Bridge going into downtown. I probably see him at least 3 times a week, most noticably in the mornings around 7 and 8. It’s very easy to miss seeing the car- but it’s there!
Maple Grove Road near Overland Road
Heading North on Maple Grove road, once you go up and passover the overpass, coming down the hill, an officer sits in the parking lot, behind the fence of a Storage Unit Complex.
9th Street near Royal actually regular street, intersecting S 9th right after the bridge
Motorcycle cop (on white BMW motorcycle) waiting hidden by bridge and trees where Royal runs into S 9th St (Capitol southbound). Note: there is one motorcycle cop in particular who is said to give more tickets in Boise than anybody else.
Protest Road near Federal Way
Coming off of Federal Way (limit 40 mph), it is very easy to get ticketed after turning onto Protest Road. Protest goes downhill and the speed limit is only 30 mph. It is quite easy to unwittingly exceed 30 mph due to your downhill momentum even if accelerating only modestly from a complete stop at the light. A motorcyle cop will often sit behind some trees at the diner on Protest, allowing him to radar up the hill. Watch your speed all the way down the hill! Even if you stop at the light at the bottom of the hill (the whole road is less than 1/4 mile in length), you can and will be ticketed for speeding for less than 50 yards down the hill.
