Hwy 3 – Mile Marker 5 to Mile Marker 8

Another favorite LE speed trap is this three-mile stretch of Highway 3 from Sunbright Lane to the Juliaetta City Limits, aka "The Straight Stretch". This area is a favorite route for chip and logging trucks, and it’s patrolled by Idaho State Police, Nez Perce County Sheriff, Latah County Sheriff, *and* Nez Perce Tribal Police (to the county line). ISP is usually pretty easy-going about speeders (they’ll flash their lights at you if you’re going a little over…about 5 MPH), but don’t count on Nez Perce or Latah Counties to be as lenient. Tribal doesn’t usually concern themselves with speeders, but don’t risk it. Highway 3 is clearly marked 55 MPH from Arrow Junction to Juliattea City Limits, then it drops to 50 MPH (by the sewage treatment plant), then drops again to 35 MPH (by the lumber mill). It picks back up to 55 MPH at the north end of town (bridge @ Little Potlatch Creek) to the Kendrick City Limits, then drops IMMEDIATELY to 35 MPH, then again to 25 MPH. It picks back up to 50 MPH up the Deary Grade.
