Lombard Road near Lake Street

Addison, IllinoisJan 02, 20071 Comments

In the Villiage of Addison there are two main and prodominate high schools, Driscoll Catholic and Addison Trail High School. They are both on the same road and are just 1/2 a mile from each other. This is a prime target for cops they usually will stake out a side street or hide in the forest preserve down the road. The fact that young drivers like to speed makes it a major police spot. Also, about every month or so they will have a seat belt enforcement road block where they will check vehicles for belts and guess what if you don’t have one expect a long wait while the officer checks your information. Expect these enforcement checks near the end of the month when they need to make up their quota, also the amount of police will increasesharply at the end of the month due to the quota factor. My recomendation is watch your speed very carefully in the morning hours(6:30-10:00)in the area of Holtz Ave. and Lombard because they are there around 4 out of the 7 days. The police are friendly but, still don’t press your luck because a good face and smile won’t get you out of that ticket.

Speed Monitor Trailer. Unless an officer is present watching for a visual on your speed – no tickets are given for excess speed. The purpose of it is for you to see your speed limit.

Interstate 355 near 290 to I-55

Addison, IllinoisSep 20, 20060 Comments

I-355 is one of the most heavily patrolled expressways in the Chicago area. Starting from I-290, you will see troopers in the turnarounds and on the ramps before the Army Trail Toll Plaza. Also, you will see some cops around the toll plaza itself because they are clocking people going through the I-Pass lanes.

After that, you may periodically see troopers on ramps or rolling patrol. However, the "red zone" is from Roosevelt Road to Ogden. Part of the reason for this is the District 15 headquarters is at Ogden and I-355 near the Illinois Tollway Building. The area to watch out in this stretch is between I-88 and Ogden. Troopers will use cutouts and bridge abutments to their advantage. There is one cutout after the tunnel that I have seen troopers use with much success. I have also seen a trooper radaring traffic under the I-88 ramps. Also, they use a cadre of unmarked cars in that stretch. I have seen 2 silver GTPs, white and red Mustangs, a green Z28, and the usual unmarked cars patrolling or radaring in that area.

After Ogden, you are liable to see the troopers on the ramps or side of the road. Troopers will patrol the Boughton cash box the same as they would the Army Trail Cashbox.

E. Lake Street near Michigan Ave, East of Addison

Addison, IllinoisJun 27, 20060 Comments

Just a quarter mile east of Lake & Addison Rd. there is a Mobil Gas Station on the south side of the street that stays closed between 11pm to 6am. Nine out of 10 times I have seen a cops standing there with his lights off and radar on. Luckily my radar detector always picks him. Speed limit drops to 30 MPH from 35 MPH so be careful.
