Uniformed police officer observed checking speeds of westbound Euclid Ave vehicles with hand-held LIDAR gun. Officer was standing in front of a hedge of green bushes and trees on the NW corner of N Chicago Ave & Euclid Ave, at 3PM on a Wednesday. The Arlington Heights PD is caging in motorists on the village’s main thoroughfares, so consider taking an alternate route, or find a street where traffic is not yet slowed to a crawl by 30 MPH zones.

Palatine Road near Windsor Drive

Arlington Heights, IllinoisJul 07, 20080 Comments

Almost every morning, 7am the cops are running laser radar at Palatine Road (heading east bound) approaching Windsor. They run their trap on the frontage road since a lot of people hop in and fly down to avoid the congestion. The cops sit in the church parking lot that is right next to the Mobile Gas Station. They stand on the corner of the driveway with their laser radar (binoculars with radar built in). They will clock you when you first come into the frontage road and you will NOT see them until its too late where they will walk out in front of you and wave you into the lot. In the 5 minutes I sit at this light, I see at least 5 people get pulled over. Usually 3-5 squad cars in the lot to run your info!

US Highway 14/ Northwest Hwy. near Euclid + Willke Road

Arlington Heights, IllinoisFeb 09, 20080 Comments

This stretch of northwest highway usually has not much traffic on it. It is a straight four lane road with railroad tracks on one side. The speed limit was 40 and was rarely enforced on this road, but in the summer of 2007 the speed limit was lowered to 35 for no real reason. There were about ten newly constructed rowhouses that are not right up against the road and also have garage entrances off of a side street. Arlington Heights police are starting to sit down side roads with radars out looking to nail someone going 40 or more where it is tempting to go over 50.
