Cop sits anywhere on Milwaukee between Central and Devon, mostly at night, and both directions. Works this spot for two / three weeks hard and heavy. Leaves for a week or two then returns.

Sheridan Road near Granville Avenue

Chicago, IllinoisJan 31, 20080 Comments

Intersection of Sheridan/Granville and all of Sheridan between Hollywood and Devon, especially northbound traffic coming off Lake Shore Drive. Posted speed limit is either 25 or 30 mph, most people go 40-45, and many accidents happen at this intersection.

Also, no turn on red 7am – 7pm is posted for all four right turns at Sheridan and Granville. Marked police car often sits on Granville just east of Sheridan. Turners, yield to pedestrians in crosswalks or you have a high likelihood of being ticketed.

Unknown whether camera box enforcement exists at this intersection.

Sidewalk cameras on poles now loom at this intersection waiting for the next person to eat a yellow light during a left turn or going through the intersection. I get mad at how some cars don’t bother to move out into the middle of the intersection to allow 2 or even 3 cars to complete the left turn. This causes u to ask urself "Should I or shouldn’t I" make the turn? If you have not cleared the big fat white line before the intersection when turning, DO NOT turn. Or the cameras will take 2-3 shots of your license plate while you try to make this turn & there’s your ticket waiting in the mail. Please use caution at this intersection.

This one is pretty cut and dry. DON’T turn left unless ur pretty out there in the middle of this huge intersection because the cameras here are one of the worst I’ve seen since they were put up last year. Considering how high up they are you will see a bright flash at anyone who takes the yellow. It’s funny only when it isn’t you. If you cross the intersection the first second the light is yellow, then it’s fine. But if it’s yellow going on red, you are screwed. So use good judgment. And stop if necessary. What’s waiting 60 seconds to save $90? It’s a long light but be patient & be safe!
