Rt 84 across the the Rock River from Colona

As you cross the Rock River coming out of Colona on Rt 84 County Sheriff Deputies like to sit in the entrance to the frontage road off to the right, just the other side of the bridge. They park way back in the turn around so you don’t see them until it’s too late. They also sometimes park in the meidian between the lanes going both directions on Rt 84 on that same side of the bridge.

Wolf Road near Cleveland Road

Colona, IllinoisJun 12, 20080 Comments

This speed trap is on the sharp s-curve of Cleveland Road going East up to Wolf Road, where the speed limit has been lowered from 55 MPH to 50 MPH. This section spans from the Grace United Methodist Church on Dayton Corner, up the hill to the turnoff for Cleveland, Illinois across from the new Emergency Services building.

During the evening commute and during the weekends, Sheriff’s Deputies (in marked and unmarked patrol cars) are known to sit in the Emergency Services (MedForce) parking lot, clocking drivers heading Eastbound out of the speed zone.

Drivers familiar with the area are used to accelerating past the Blackhawk State Bank ATM and up the hill to Wolf Road, but with the new lower speed limit, this isn’t possible.

Make sure you keep your speed well below 55 MPH as you crest the Hill to avoid unwanted attention from the Sheriff’s Department on your commute home.
