Ogden Ave. (Rt. 34)

Cops sit in business driveways at the edge of the road every few blocks along Ogden Ave. Also, more than once, I saw an Illinois State Trooper sitting in the parking lot of Cub Foods on 75th St. This was to catch people going above 10MPH and cutting across the painted parking lines instead of driving down the isles.

Butterfield Road at Highland Avenue

As you travel eastbound on Butterfield, watch it as you go underneath the Highland Ave. underpass. Cops will hide behind the retaining wall of the eastbound entry ramp from Highland. Actually, a cop will literally crouch down behind the wall, then periodically jump up and point his radar gun at whatever cars happen to be coming along. If he clocks someone, he gives the high sign to one of several patrol cars similarly hidden behind the barrier. I’ve seen as many as three cars in use at one time. The first time I witnessed this, I was driving along and happened to see this figure pop up over the barrier pointing what appeared to be a gun in my direction. Freaked me out! They don’t run the trap continuously; it seems to come and go, but when they do it, they run it for several days in a row.
