East Hazel Crest, Illinois Speed Traps
On Center Ave., between 171st & 175th Sts.
Speed limit is only 25 mph along this stretch and police sit behind any buildings that they can to enforce it. Hard to see them without radar detector. Mine lit up like a Christmas tree once on my way to work at about 6 am. Nice that they are out trying to bust people on their way to work.
Ashland av. along C.N. tracks
Well hidden in business lot along east side they can target motorists from north and south at same time. They have been recorded issuing tickets at a rate of 3 in 2 hour period.
Halsted Avenue near Interstate 294
East Hazel Crest is one of the worst, considering the town has about only 1500 residents. Their border barely lies across Halsted from 171st to 170th which is the bridge across I-294 but is a major source of revnue for this tiny town. They even have the nerve to own a scale for you overweight truckers out there! And it gets used on a regular and frequent basis. They shoot radar from the North and South. This area of their jurisdiction is so small, that the stops that they make usually end in the neighboring towns of Homewood to the South or Harvey to the North. NO violation is too small here.
