East Peoria, Illinois Speed Traps
On ramp to I-74 from Camp Street
$120 Ticket for improper lane usage. On ramp to I-74 from Camp Street is permitted only to access east bound I-74. A sign is present, but not apparent until you have committed to take this route. It is a very simple to access to west bound I-74 from this ramp and this use to be permitted, but try to watch for East Peoria police (tough to see if you aren’t looking for them) sitting at other end of the same ramp on the other side of I-74 video taping and lining the vehicles up for their $120 donation to Tazewell county.
The officer even stated that it was a common occurrence and he can sit there all day long and ticket people, also claimed it was a safety hazard because it causes a lot of accident – so, if that is the case an easy fix would be to install a few (3 or 4 would do it) concrete dividers instead of sitting there all day with your hand out watching the action.
