Fox River Grove, Illinois Speed Traps
US Highway 14 near Lincoln Street
I’m surprised FRG hasn’t been mentioned yet – they’re about as bad as their neighbor, Cary, IL. The traps are set anywhere in the "downtown" strip, about 2 blocks on either side of Lincoln. They will sit in various business parking lots clocking traffic. Don’t think that you’re safe if you make it into Cary, they WILL follow you and pull you over anyway.
State Route 14 near Auto Repair/Lawyer office
As you are heading east on RT 14 heading from Cary into Fox River Grove, the police sit on a down hill section in the parking lot of a lawyers office getting people coming down the hill. BEWARE
Algonquin Road near Gladys Avenue
There are two traps at Algonquin Rd School. At the intersection of Algonquin Rd (not Rt 62, but this town’s own little Algonquin Rd) and Gladys avenue, at the bottom of the big hill by the water tower. They exploit the steepness of the hill. They also hide in the school’s parking lot and get people headed west on Algonquin Rd coming over a blind hill. It is so common that you absolutely cannot speed on this road. The rest of FRG is relatively safe though.
Algonquin Road near Water Tower
Cops will sit in this area well hidden from traffic coming in either direction. They will pull you over for anything over the posted speed limit. You cannot see them until your right on top of them.
