Glenarm, Illinois Speed Traps
Interstate 55 near State Route 104
The overpass south of Glenarm on I-55 is where the state police use Lidar (Laser) on a regular basis. They monitor the north bound lanes. Sometimes they have a car on the overpass and other times it is a motorcycle (very hard to see). Their wolf pack will have 4 or more chasers on the north bound on ramp. You can count on them being there on holiday start dates.
Interstate 55 near Exit Number 83
As resident of Glenarm, I have noticed the ISP will run the Aircraft around three times a month here. Then about twice a week they will use Lidar(Laser) as one of them sits on the over pass and they will generally have eight cars. Some of which are marked and some of which are not marked. Usually, they only get the traffic heading north into Springfield. My advice is to slow down around Divernon if heading north. They will get you as soon as you come over the hill right next to Auburn. They have a direct shot. The distance between Auburn and Glenarm is approximately one mile so it’s perfect because you will never see them until the cop is coming down the on ramp. Everytime i’ve seen this trap it is ran usually around 1 or 2pm until about 6pm. On some days it is later. I have heard that they use Glenarm for the ISP District 9 cadet training. Not for sure on that though.
I-55 overpass
They sit on the Glenarm exit overpass and use a laser. They usually have 6 to 8 cars waiting to do the bidding of the goofball with the laser gun.
