Grayslake, Illinois Speed Traps
State Route 83 near State Highway 120
This is more of a general warning. Grayslake police have stated in a recent newspaper article that speed limits on all city street will be heavily enforced. This includes all residential streets. They stated police may be hiding anywhere with their radar guns including "behind fire hydrants." Grayslake known for its strict enforcment of traffic laws aspecially from the hours of 10pm to 5am.
State Route 120 near State Route 83
If you’re driving west on Rt.120 heading toward Rt.83 beware of a car sitting either in an empty lot on the north side of Rt.120 or further up ahead in the vegie/fruit stand parking lot. Rt.120 curves just past the Rochenbach Chevy dealer & you can’t see the car until you make this turn.
Lake Street near Hillside Avenue
An unmarked car sits on this street or any of the other streets located south or north of Hillside after school lets out on Lake street. The speed limit is 20 mph & they do enforce it. Do the 20 until you clear the RR tracks & then it’s 35 mph.
Drury Lane near Rollins Road
Heading north on Drury Lane towards Rollins Rd. there will be a car sitting somewhere on the left side of the road on one of the sidestreets. The posted limit is 40 mph & they catch a lot of people going over. This is a good shortcut to Rollins Rd.
State Route 83 near Washington Avenue
As you proceed north on Rt.83 passing through Washington, the road angles left from two lanes to a single lane. There is a car sitting about 300yds up the road on the shoulder waiting for people who fly through the Rt.83/Washington intersection & keep speeding on through the turn, past Triangle restaurant, & past the animal hospital. Only then do you see the car & find out it’s too late.
