Coming into town from either direction on Rte. 14

Harvard, IllinoisApr 01, 20101 Comments

Temporary 20 MPH school speed limit signs are placed on the median during school hours. Permanent school zone signs state “20mph – When Children Are Present!” OK, which is it?? I’ve driven this route hundreds of times and I Never seen any kids near the roadway and there is a hurricane fence that has to be at least 6′ tall around school property. Harvard is a lousy town to get through as it is and this makes it downright miserable!! Their unsynchronized lights are a pain too! I’ve never gotten pulled over in Harvard yet which I think is rather amazing.

Coming into town east bound from Rockford. There is two spots where marked cars sit. One is in a vacant car dealership lot. The other is a small driveway hidden by trees and weeds. Posted limit is 35, most Harvard cops will let u fly 5-10 over.

If your going East bound on Rt 173 into Harvard, right as you go past Harvard Hills rd, there is a hill. A marked car sits on Galvin Pkwy and will nail you. The speed limit is 35, and it is very easily forgotten as you enter the city limits!
