Herrin, Illinois Speed Traps

Across the street from the cemetery there are two churches that sit right next to each other on the west side of Rt. 148. Herrin cops frequently sit in this parking lot and pull over vehicles going both directions. Be especially careful coming south across the stoplight at Carterville road (Grand Ave). I was told by a state cop that the Herrin police dept. recently purchased a state-of-the-art radar that allows the cops to read the vehicles’ speeds from the church parking lot as they cross this stoplight. The speed limit in this stretch is 45, but many vehicles drive close to 60 as the road opens up near Rt. 13.

Sits at the cementary road in driveways. That road is 45 mile speed limit till you get to clark trail road then it turns into 35 mile speed limit.But soon as you cross Stotlar it goes to 45 speed limit

There is a stretch of route 148 approximately a 1/4 mile south of the walmart, in length where speed limit goes from 45mph, down to 35 mph and then back up to 45 mph. both the Herrin and the Energy Il. police will sit.
