US Highway 41 near Exit Number Clavey

Highland Park, IllinoisSep 08, 20070 Comments

The officer will sit in the on ramp facing oncoming traffic. The onramp is a 180 degree onrap with elevated bank so you will not see the patrol until you are even with it. This placement is slightly dangerous to onramp drivers as well because if you are on the inner part of the lane you might clip the patrol car. This is an alternate spot to the Lake Cook position since it is one exit North of it and people who know about Lake Cook will speed up when there is no patrol placed there.

Lake-Cook Road near Green Bay Road

Going westbound from GBR, you go downhill for about a quarter mile, picking up speed. The radar car waits in the morning on one of the side lanes to the right (north), just before the entrance to the Botanic Garden.

US Highway 43 near Interstate 94

Highland Park, IllinoisJun 23, 20070 Comments

Shortly ater splitting off from I-94 heading North, the speed limit drops fromm 55mph to only 40mph, and this is where you will be caught. After only 2 or 3 blocks, the 55mph limit resumes.

Ridge Road near Hybernia Drive

Highland Park, IllinoisMay 29, 20070 Comments

Police will sit either in the entrance to Hybernia on the East side of Ridge Road or in the Forrest Preserve Entrance a few hundred yards south. They usually gun people going north from park ave towards RT 22 but will not hesistate to gun both ways. Don’t speed in between Park Ave W and Rt 22 (half day rd) in either direction.

State Route 41 near West Park Avenue

Highland Park, IllinoisMar 18, 20070 Comments

Local officer will sit in the parking lot entrance for Sam’s Wine/Staples Office Supply, just off of northbound 41. There is a small, brick business sign/marker there that blocks your vision into the parking entrance as you head north, so it is ideal for the police. Main problem is that Route 41 is a divided highway with a 55-MPH speed limit until about 1/2 mile before this trap. Very unrealistic for people to slow that quickly, especially when the steady traffic flow is usually 50-60 MPH. This is a fairly regular trap, along with the trap mentioned previously on the northbound entrance to Route 41 at Lake-Cook Road, which is only about 1 mile before this trap.
