Highland Park, Illinois Speed Traps
State Route 41 near park ave west Road
the speed limit drops from 55 to 40 just north or central ave. The cops usually sit there on sunday mornings
Prarie Wolf Slough Trail near State Route 22
Between Highland Park and Bannockburn on IL-22, there is Prarie Wolf Slough. Just about every morning I see a Lake County Sheriff SUV monitoring traffic at the entrance to the slough. I’ve never seen steady stream radar being used, just instant-on. The speed limit is 40mph but most people do around 50mph. But just be careful during morning rush hour going either direction.
Park Avenue West between Rt.41 and Green Bay
Cops tend to hide in the School District 113 Building parking lot, one driveway east of Wolter’s Field (The Highland Park High School football field) they sit at the end of the lot opposite the road and are entirely hidden from view until they see you. This is especially true on weekends.
Ridge Road & Hybernia Drive
Ridge Road is a very nice straight road with a very unrealistic 25mph speed limit. At the Hybernia entrance often sits a cop, usually visible to traffic though. However, Instant-On radar is usually used, so if you’re doing 15mph or more, you’re a gonner.
Park Avenue West & US-41
At the radiology institute next to the railroad tracks, there is sometimes a cop sitting there with radar. It’s easily visible if you’re going eastbound on Park Avenue, but the cop is hidden by trees and brush if you’re driving westbound.
