Algonquin Road west of Roselle Road

Hoffman Estates, IllinoisDec 19, 20020 Comments

This stretch of road used to be two lanes with a 55 speed limit; it has since been widened to four lanes and the limit lowered to 45. This doesn’t seem to stop people from doing 60+ on a regular basis, and the resulting traffic flow seems to confirm this. The law enforcement officials seem to know this too, as I usually see them stopping someone every time I pass through here. I’ve seen them clocking people in the parking lot of the education center near Roselle Road. I’ve also seen a cop on multiple occasions clocking people on the south side of the road west of Ela Road. They park just to the west of the creek bridge, perpendicular to the bike path and obscured by the bridge railing, at least to westbound travelers. At night, eastbound travelers can spot this cruiser only by its reflectors, as it sits with headlights off. Sometimes you will get marked Chevy Tahoe to pull you over as well. As far as I’m concerned, 45 is way too low a limit for this stretch of road, as it is still largely rural, with residences placed well off to the side. In any case, it is a road that is in so nice a condition that you really want to do 60+ down it, but beware.
