Lake Forest, Illinois Speed Traps
Old Elm Road near Green Bay Road
There is almost always a patrol car on the north side of Old Elm, east of the stop sign at Green Bay Road. The traffic regularly moves at 50+ mph, but the posted limit is 30 mph. They will nail you for any mph over the limit, as has happened to me (got a ticket for 1 mph over once). They are particularly fond of nailing Highland Park residents as they emerge from their neighborhoods, and show no mercy.
Western Avenue near US Highway 41
Cops will be sitting behind every tree on the street…Beware!
Sheridan Road near Just North of Train Station
Going N on Sheridan Road just past Lake Forest going to Great Lakes Naval Base there is a place for an officer to sit going either direction to catch both N/S vehicles in a passing zone. The road signs recently changed (10/06) and moved the 40mph signage closer to Lake Forest city limits. The police there are hard on motorists and will take away your license.
