Lake Forest, Illinois Speed Traps

Usually hiding on the north part of the intersection facing south, nabbing people on Old Mill going 40+.

Location 1 – speed trap on East side of Sheridan Rd between Old Elm and Mc McCormick. Police sit in a park entrance (low spot on the road protected visually by rolling hills on either side) and radar north / south. You won’t see them until it’s to late. Location 2 – West side of Sheridan Rd near the bike path / electrical generator about a half mile north of location 1.

Cops sit on the entrance ramps for 41 on coming from deerpath road, where you can’t see the cop until you’re past the entrance and he’s in your rear view mirror. They also sit near a break in the median nearby, which is right next to a small side street called Gage lane. They will sometimes be next to the median, and sometimes are on Gage lane itself. At night they usually use black cars so they are less noticeable.

On I-94 all day long lately the Illiois State Police have been working in small groups of marked squads and unmarked. One Trooper stands outside the squad and uses the lidar (or laser) and then he/she gives the speed and distance that the vehicles are traveling to the other Troopers. Then they nail you! I travel this way every day and they have been in the areas between mile post 53.0 (Lakecook rd) all the way up to the toll plaza #21. They can sit out in the open on either shoulder because by the time you can see they are a squad car, they already have you with the laser. Watch out!
