Morton, Illinois Speed Traps

State and local police operate speed traps on I-155, frequently sitting under overpasses or on top of overpasses and utilizing chase cars to catch motorists. In the spring, summer and fall, the State Police uses motorcycle officers along the corridor with hand held radar guns.

They sit in median as you come over interstate. Speed limit is like…30/35 and they catch lots.

They will either sit on the side of the road at night hidden in the darkness or set a trap on one of the overpasses. There will be one unit sitting on an overpass radaring and there will be several others on the interstate waiting to chase down targets.

You can drive 10 miles between Morton and the Goodfield exit thus making this stretch ideal to tag speeders. Morton’s finest will wait for you prior to reaching Morton to I355 Interchange. They will also wait for you at the Tazwall County turnaround located at the east end of the county. The state police have also participated with Airplanes looking for speeders.
