Normal, Illinois Speed Traps
Normal police will sit on side streets all along West Hovey between Cottage Ave on the west and Adelaide to the East.
The road is a 4 lane street and a school is on it. Speed limit is only 35 mph. A cop is sitting in the entrance to Wintergreen subdivision. I always put my cruise control on on this street to avoid getting a ticket. I received a ticket 1 year ago and I try and avoid Rabb road as much as possible.
Normal Police cars sit anywhere in the area between Towanda Ave and Linden St on W. College. The limit is 30 MPH, but should be faster since it’s a 4 lane street. A favorite time of year for them to run radar is when ISU students are moving into the dorms and classes begin.
Speed limit drops to 30 mph from 45 mph as you cross Hershey Ave toward Veterans Parkway! Very easy to lose track of your speed in this area. Enforcment is very frequent!
The speed limit drops from 40 to 30 after the Walgreens. Police sit on the small side streets and use rader to stop any and all who are going over. They also tend to drive up and down the street during the day.
