Look for these ‘safety professionals’, sitting in the dark w/lights off, waiting for someone to cream into them from behind. This is a very unsafe, dangerous method. Also, look for them parked next to a green utility box at the N/E corner of this intersection.

294 N at Duffy Lane overpass. Just prior to rt 22 overpass

Riverwoods, IllinoisOct 10, 20100 Comments

State police with radar standing on Duffy overpass clocking northbound 294 traffic as it approaches the Duffy overpass. Radio to patrol cars on 294 who administer tickets between Duffy and 22. Officers are manning this speed trap fairly regularly, in particular on Friday afternoons and on weekends.

Duffy Lane near I-94

Plain clothes Illinois State Trooper parks his squad car on Duffy Ln. on the east side of the bridge out of site to tollway traffic. He walks up to the center of the bridge where he uses handheld radar and a camera to trap speeders traveling northbound. I’ve only seen him radar southbound traffic once. I’m not sure if he radios ahead or sends a ticket in the mail. The cop is sneaky though. Today he was ducked down alongside the concrete barrier with his head barely sticking up above the top of it. It would be very hard to spot him from the tollway before he has you nailed.
