Schaumburg, Illinois Speed Traps

Police routinely sit in parking lot at Atcher Park District and shoot radar. Although this is a residential area, police are not only seen during the day when people are present, but also late at night and early in the morning.

Every rush hour morning and rush hour eve I drive my daughter to daycare bode and Salem drives. There is always a cop between Salem and Roselle road on Bode.

Going north on Biesterfield Road the road goes from Elk Grove Village into Schaumburg at a speed limit of only 25…the road is pretty empty usually but cops are hiding in nearby streets with radars to catch you over 25.

The latest is now an officer sits in a lawnchair as if sunbathing, and has a radar gun in hand and a radio. About 1/2 mile north of this spot, several unmarked police cruisers wait to catch unsuspecting motorists. Very creative. And so very wrong.

Illinois State Police and Cook county Sheriff’s Department stake out a break in the retaining wall between east and west bound Interstate 90, also known as the Northwest Tollway. The break in the retaining wall is used for emergency and authorized vehicles to make U-turns, oh and also for speedtraps. I travel east bound on I-90 five to six nights a week and see someone pulled over three to four times a week. Look for the sign that says "No U-turns except for authority vehicles." Police also stake out a smilar location at mile marker 15.5, but not as often.
