Interstate 24 between mile marker 4 and 6
State police have a man on the overpass at mile marker 5 at the top of the hill shooting radar at westbound traffic. The chase cars are just over the hill (and around the curve) waiting to pull unsuspecting drivers over. The man on the overpass is standing and his police car is not visible. He is very hard to spot. They are in this location several times a week. Occasionally they are in the pull through just west of exit 7.
East Vine Street (State Rt. 146)
Illinois State Police vehicles hide behind the abandoned gas station next to Dairy Queen and pull over vehicles on State Rt. 146. Units have been seen here day and night.
I-24 between mile markers 7 and 18
Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and Vienna Police Department patrol Interstate 24 heavily between mile markers 7 and 18. Any time of day or night, but most commonly between 10 PM and 5 AM. Out of state vehicles are their favorites!
