Fortville, Indiana Speed Traps

West Garden Street, just over the railroad tracks going to Geist area, the speed limit is posted as 30 mph for a few hundred feet. The police set behind tall vegetation across from the 45 mph speed limit sign and issue tickets to drivers going 45 mph.

There is a 45mph zone on most of Fortville Pike where the traffic travels routinely at 55 mph or more including the school buses. Coming north into town the 45mph zone suddenly drops to 30mph. The trap is usually just north of that near the church or Park Street where they hide in the parking lot and hit folks with radar and laser as they are slowing down for the 30mph zone. Of course no one gets slowed down that fast and they clock the vehicles prior to the 30mph zone anyway. Are they making money? Yes. Look at their new cars and trucks.
