State Highway 64

Georgetown, IndianaMar 22, 20080 Comments

This is just one of the many small towns on Indiana 64 that many Hoosier motorist must drive through everyday to get to and from work. For a town of its size it is probably BY FAR the worst speed trap in America. The speed limit stands at 35mph and if you go 40mph even in the middle of the night, you will for sure get a speeding ticket (unless all the cops are already busy writing a ticket). Be careful with these guys also. In 2003 my brother was pulled over for "not wearing a seat belt." The case was thrown out by the prosacutor, because the cops own camera showed without a doubt that he was. My other brother was pulled out at 3am after getting off of work. The police did not accept his examplanation that he looked bad because he is working a full job, and it was finals week at his university. The police officer assisted that he was on drugs. Of course this was far from the true and no charges were brought against him.

The entire 30 mph zone thru town is dangerous. These cops are mean… I had expired tags one day and they left me standing on the side of the road. Took my vehicle… unbelievable.

Around the Georgetown exit. West bound, three lanes before, reduces to two lanes after the exit. They sit on the Exit 150 ramp, and under the overpass. Also east bound, where the highway curves. High during holidays.

State Road 64

All along this stretch of rural Indiana highway, Georgetown Police Department does an excellent job of writing speeding tickets, and I feel safer driving down State Road 64, knowing that the casulty rate of accidents due to speeding has dramatically been reduced over the years. The G-Town PD is doing a fabulous job using their speeding detection equipment. They catch a lot of hell from young and old drivers for their amounts of tickets issued, but as a lifelong citizen of Floyd County, I feel safer when I have to drive my family along State Road 64. Hats off to Chief Potts and his officers 🙂 !!
