Greenwood, Indiana Speed Traps
Main Street Between US 31 and Howard Road
Greenwood Police sit in the parking lot of West Park and Shoot Radar at both East and West bound traffic. Speed Limit is 30, and it’s downhill both ways approaching the park.
Smith Valley Road near Wakefield Housing Addition
From State Road 37, heading East on Smith valley road, as soon as you cross the bridge, there is a house being built on the right. The cop sits on the south shoulder of the road radaring people coming over the hill from Morgantown Road. Usually after dark.
Emerson Avenue near County Line Road
Greenwood Police park at several locations along Emerson, usually between 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM
Smith Valley Road near Meridian Street
The police sit in the parking lot for Craig Park, just east of Meridian Street at the bottom of the hill and wait for people to come into the trap, where their speed automatically increases just coming down the sloping hill. You have to ride your brakes to keep from going over the posted 30 MPH limit!
Smith Valley Rd. between Meridian & US 31
There are 3 stop lights within 100 yards on Smith Valley Rd. between Meridian and U.S.31, I’ve seen as many as 4 police cars with 2 policemen in each writting tickets for blocking the intersections at this location but none of them are willing to walk out into the intersection and help direct traffic to keep this bottleneck from occuring. By pulling cars over and writting tickets they even make the situation worse.
