Monticello, Indiana Speed Traps
421 between Monticello and Delphi
Posted speed is 55 and best to stay slightly under or risk getting pulled over by overly zealous Carroll County mounties. It’s a cash poor county so they need that ticket revenue.
Freeman Road between Gordon and Sixth Street
Construction zone by the new hospital. Make sure you’re doing 25 mph! Watch for the unmarked silver Dodge Charger…Monticello P.D.!
any Street
There’s a saying about White County. "Come down for vacation, leave on probation". DUIs are one thing. Laying in wait outside bars and restaurants is another (and yes, the cops do that in White County). Watch your speeds in the towns, rural roads and state highways, watch your alcohol consumption or appoint a designated driver (although a drunk passenger may merit an arrest for public intox). Wear your seat belts. Regular checkpoints, especially in the summer.
Range Line Road – halfway to state rd 18
At 2 points on this road (west side) there are two locations, both at the edge of fields, and very well concealed, in which county police lie in wait. This road is very heavily traveled, & it is easy to get behind a group of people going too fast. The police love this, and by the time you notice them, it’s too late.
US 24 & state rd 39
County or State will sit behind several parked semi trailers at this intersection with lights off. The first person to break the speed limit by 5 MPH gets it.
