Bettendorf, Iowa Speed Traps
Unmarked brown car waits at 29th St corner and watches for vehicles coming down the hill from the west.
18th Street in by Bettendorf High School. Its a 25mph zone and cops sometimes sit on side streets and watch others go by. Mostly around lunch time for High School students leaving for lunch break and at the end of school around 230ish.
only 30mph on a wide road they on a side street
The interstate goes from 65 to 55 in a 2 mile stretch, and they are there for the morning and afternoon commute. The shoot the laser from Lincoln road and pull you over 1 mile later between Locust and Kimberly Road.
Police use radar from an overpass bridge 1/2 way up the 1st I74 hill in Bettendorf (around Lincoln Rd) by ‘hiding’ behind the green road signs up on that bridge. They ‘clock’ speeding cars flying off of the I74(Mississippi River) bridge that are leaving IL and going up the hill into Bettendorf, IA. They then must ‘radio’ the car ID/Info to mobile police units who pull them over after the top of the hill. I have seen this trap set up on 4 different mornings this spring already and each time they have 5 or 6 squad cars on the top of the hill, each having a car pulled over and are writing a citation.
