De Soto, Kansas Speed Traps

There is one and sometimes two county mounties sitting in the parking lot of the Methodist Church about 1/2 mile from Hwy 10 where the speed limit goes from 45 mph to 35 mph. They are there sometimes as often as three or four times a week, sometimes morning rush, sometimes afternoon.

Cruise through at up to 40 mph, go 41 or over and zap like a bug zapper. Seen people pulled over going north and south on there before at the same time. There is a curve on either side of the church and they make a point to pull you over beyond the curb so you can’t see them coming from the other direction.

They hide (they think) in the carwash across from Mc Donalds. Watching for speeders or anyone coming from the liquor store or bar across from the carwash bays.

Speed limit is 35 mph.

The speed limit is 30 mph and it’s very easy to want to drive faster than that…
