Desoto, Kansas Speed Traps

Johnson County Sheriff with radar at the bottom of a crest on 83rd just coming into Desoto from the east. Went back and looked after the 14 mph over ticket and the speed limit changes from 45 to 35 about 100 ft prior to the crest. There’s a reduce speed sign about 50 ft prior to that so no excuses, but if he was there for awareness he could have sat at Waverly where the speed reduces. $69 fine + $55 court cost if mailed no contest.

On Kill Creek Rd., South of Hwy 10, the speed limit starts out at 35 mph and then increases to 45 mph a mile or two south of the Hwy. Cops are always hiding in the area. Got a ticket there once Even Though I Knew! that it was a speed trap…I temorarily forgot as the road seems so much like many other roads with at least a 55 mph speed limit. It’s a road I find quite difficult to drive 35 on. Now I just set my cruise control, and Always give a warning flash for oncoming vehicals when I see a cop hiding there.
