Goodland, Kansas Speed Traps
I-70 Near Goodland
We were pulled over for only breaking the speed limit by 10 mph. We were later told by locals that the state police are eagerly looking for out of state plates. Avoid this area, but if you have to come through go the speed limit.
State Highway 27 near Interstate 70
Local police officer waits for out of state plates as you exit I-70. You have been traveling at 70 MPH on the interstate and suddenly the speed limit ( not well posted) drops to 40MPH. She lies in wait and will ticket you for 2 mph over the speed limit.
Part of the scam is you will be contacted by the city attorney asking you to pay an additional $100 to the "local economy" to reduce the number of points for your "violation".
My suggestion is to not exit the interstate in Goodland for any reason. That should help the local economy. Its a scam.
Cattletrail Street near State Highway 24 & 27
Police will park with lights off on the empty lot east of Hwy 27 and nails cars coming off 27 onto Cattletrail.
Also, end of the month and beginning of month are high ticket times here. They will find ANY excuse to pull you over and even follow you at night with no headlights on.
