24th St. at the new Cemetary

Great Bend, KansasJul 14, 20100 Comments

Police will park in the cemetary parking lot facing east. The speed limit is 35 but it is a four lane road in a fairly open area and the traffic flows a bit faster.

McKinnley St. & 2nd St.

Great Bend, KansasJan 24, 20100 Comments

Cops usually sit on the west side of McKinnley where the speed limit goes from 45 mph to 30 mph. The speed limit used to be 45 mph almost all the way to 10th until they changed it about 2 yrs ago.

US Highway 281 near State Highway 56

Great Bend, KansasJan 21, 20080 Comments

The trap is located on the west side of US281 in the parking lot (or at the pumps) of an abandoned gas station about a 0.5 miles south of the junction of US281 and RT56 before a railroad overpass. Speed limit is 30 MPH but because of the open nature of the route (4-lane, it feels like you should be able to go faster than that.

281 Bypass

Where the trucks stop across from Mr. Burger Restaurant, a police officer normally sits behind one of the trailors for the trucks and sometimes you can’t see them.

Harrison Street near 10th Street

Great Bend, KansasMar 29, 20060 Comments

Great Bend Police regularly park in a church parking lot near the corner of Harrison Street and 10th Street. The area during parts of the day is 20 miles per hour – school zone with a flashing yellow caution light. However, the yellow caution light for the 20 mph speed is often on late at night when there isn’t any school and Great Bend Police can be seen parked there at night during non-school hours. I urge motorists to travel 20 mph even during non-school hours if the yellow flashing light is on.
