Cop in car will sit on the right shoulder or off the shoulder watching traffic. Only ever seen him at night. But he’s there a lot.

Interstate 35 North near Santa Fe Street

Motor officer sits at collector/distributor Santa Fe to I-35N. He is very hard to see. He wears a white shirt, white helmet, black trousers, and rides a white bike. Blends in well.

159th Street near Ridgeview Road

Olathe, KansasMay 02, 20061 Comments

If you are heading eastbound on Ridgeview, there is usually a cop sitting on the south side of the road in a church entrance right before the four-way stop at Ridgeview. The speed limit is 40 and everyone drives at least 45 on this stretch of the road and you can’t really see the cop until it’s too late due to a slight hill and some houses. They may also be using radar on cars going westbound but cars are just coming off the four-way stop and aren’t speeding before they reach the cop unless they absolutely gun it right off the stop sign. Also, I’ve only seen one cop there at a time.

Ridge View Road near Washington Elem/Santa Fe Jr. High

Olathe, KansasJan 09, 20050 Comments

This trap is right in front of two schools on Ridgeview Road. The traffic officer sits on a side street just North of Washington Elementary on the east side of the street. He drives and unmarked white Ford F-150 with a camper shell on it. Unless you drive the road every day you could easily get caught accelerating out of the school zone early, as this is where he sits, right at the end.

State Highway K-10 near State Highway K-7

Olathe, KansasMay 04, 20041 Comments

This trap is at the intersection of K-10 and K-7. The trap is set up so that if you are traveling east on K-10, coming from Lawrence you will run into it. As you come up the hill on K-10 approaching K-7 there will be about ten squad cars and a couple bikes just waiting on the on ramp from K-7. One of the cops will either be clocking from that ramp or sometimes they have a guy in a white unmarked Ford F-150 sitting in the median doing the clocking. They have used mostly Laser, but I have seen some Radar.
