Lexington, Kentucky Speed Traps
New Circle Road between Alumni drive and Nicholasville road Exits
Lexington Traffic cops love to setup speed traps Underneath the overpasses @ Alumni and Nicholasville road exits on New Circle road. These traps are most frequent during the A.M. and P.M. Rush hours.
Man O War between Clays Mill Rd. & Harrodsburg Rd. outbound
Past Clays Mill, outbound on Man O War there is a cut-out in the road where I’ve seen both marked and unmarked city police vehicles sitting with radar.
Richmond Road inside New Circle
Lexington Police are often parked in the median on Richmond Road kind of near Ashland, Henry Clay’s estate. Look for the cops between Sherman and Victory avenues. I live in the neighborhood and I would say at least one person gets pulled over a night. And they’re pretty strict about the speed limit so make sure to go 35 even though 55 would be more appropriate.
I-64 East, Mile Marker 72
At the edge of Fayette County/Lexington City limits, you’ll see an overpass just inside of mile marker 72 heading eastbound along I-64. Just immediately beyond this overpass, you’ll often find a Lexington Fayette COunty Police officer running radar. The police car is extremely tough to see as it is shielded by both the overpass and a slight dip in the road. If you’re driving 70mph or less, you should be fine; 70-75mph, you’re in jeopardy; 75+mph, you’re cooked!
Tates Creek Rd beyond Man O War
I live out this way and have gotten several tickets, and it’s not uncommon to see someone pulled over any day or night. Patrol cars cruise up and down with radar guns, and occasionally hide. One night, late, I was tailgated by someone with bright lights and I was driving the speed limit, when I turned in my drive, I got out of my car to see who was trying to agitate me and it was a patrol car. He quickly backed all the way down the road, turned around and took off!!
