Louisville, Kentucky Speed Traps
Hazelwood Ave between Manslick Rd and Taylor Blvd
Speed limit changes to 25 mph. Marked and unmarked vehicles sit in church parking lot near both ends of the street. They will stop you at 35 mph. Have observed 5 stops in one hour.
Interstate 64 west and east bound
Between the Gene Snyder and Shelbyville, in the construction zone. Speed limit is now 55 miles per hour. State troopers and vehicle enforcement sit on the side of the road and on exit ramps to catch speeders in this area. Sometimes there are multiple officers in a 10 mile stretch.
Watterson Expressway-Bardstown Road to Dixie Highway
I used to teach in the south end and got pulled over a bunch of times in that stretch of road….going in both directions…..got a ticket twice, both times by the same cop, who gave his own mother a ticket!
Preston Hwy at Male High School
Police sit in the car repair shop across from Evergreen Cemetery. Usually it is an unmarked car and laser is used so by the time your radar detector goes off it is too late. Tickets are issued during the daylight, even during the hours that are not designated as "school hours". Since it is a school zone police are instructed by Louisiville Metro Government that they MUST give a citation, no warnings are given. Zero tolerance is practiced.
Southern Parkway and Taylor Blvd.
It is easy to exceed the 35 mph limit on this four lane parkway. But located in the mile closest to Iroquois Park is a 25 mph school zone where there is no mercy. This trap extends around the corner onto the first mile of Taylor Blvd in front of Iroquois High School.
