Versailles, Kentucky Speed Traps

This is a residential street with 25 mph speed limit. This street has a long hill. Going up is not bad, but maintaining 25 mph coming down is extremely difficult. Police like to sit in driveways or the side street and run radar. Neighbors have complained about the speed of cars and have many 25 mph signs in their yards. Be careful here!

This stretch of I-64 is as straight as an arrow, but don’t think of getting “speedy” on this 3 mile stretch; usually there’s a marked or unmarked Ford Crown Victoria having someone pulled over. Drive the speed limit and no more on this road; using the cruise control would be a big safety net……

Both county (Woodford) and state police regularly cruise the stretch of highway on US 60 between Versailles and Frankfort, KY toward I-64. In 19 years of driving this road, I’ve received at least 6 tickets for speeding, and only one on any other venue. Lots of slow drivers, farm country. They’ll get you for 5 -6 miles over the speed limit. Forget trying to get out of it.

Going to Versailles from Lexington, just past the airport you go over a hill with Keeneland Racetrack on your right. Police officers like to hide on the other side of the hill in the median and get people as they come over. They also hide in a driveway off to the leFort As you continue down the hill less than a half a mile away, there is a church on the right. Officers also like to hide in the parking lot and get people coming both directions. Speed limit is 55, but it’s difficult not to go 65. Very little tolerance on speed, they get people all day long.

Speed limit on this rural four lane highway is set at a way too low 55mph. Police run radar from the median and their cars all day. They do not hesitate to turn around and pull people over for very little over the speed limit. I NEVER speed on this road. 80% of the time I have travelled this road, I have seen someone pulled over.
