Dodson, Louisiana Speed Traps

Most definitely a speed trap. Casual Sunday ride. State highway construction zone and they are taking advantage of it. No construction going on. I think it is there just to entrap you. Deputy voluntarily lowered my speed on the ticket to help me without me saying a thing. He also conveniently assessed the fine for me and showed me where to mail it in. I guess he thought he was being helpful.

Not only is this place a Speed Trap, they beef-up the ticket by citing you for wreckless opperation as well as speeding. Fines start at $280.00 and go up from there.

Speed limit in town has been dropped to 25 mph due to construction. I saw a LOCAL logger being cited so they must be really enforcing that change.

Police sit on both ends of Dodson 24/7. Also be sure to watch your speed when entering other towns on 167. Several of them enjoy nailing motorists who forget to adequately slow down when entering the city limits.
